Our Supporters
The Project is supported by many individuals and organisations. These include :
- Generous people who give donations of money; this began with Brigidine Sisters committing regular sums of money from each local community
- People who regularly bring goods to be distributed to asylum seekers
- People who give time, either coming to visit the Detention Centre or doing tasks like keeping the Brigidine Asylum Seeker accounts or helping with the gardens or maintenance of the houses
- The organisers of the Bid for Freedom art auction, the generous artists who have contributed art to auction, and all those who assisted the two wonderful Bid for Freedom events
- Families who arranged for gifts to be given to the Project when a member of their family died
- Schools : many schools (Brigidine schools and others) have had fund-raising events and collected food and other necessities such as household cleaning goods
- Organisations who give us donations - sometimes after one of our members speaks at a function
- Individuals or small groups who have organised events such as film nights
- People who have 'tin-rattled' at functions
- Catholic Women's league members who have contributed gifts, especially toiletries
- St Vincent de Paul, who paid the rent on a property for asylum seekers for a year
- The Brigidine Sisters and the Catholic Parish of Albion who have allowed us the use of houses which we use for asylum seekers with nowhere to live
- Kilbreda College who print the newsletters for us, and the individuals who fold and send out the newsletters. (Please be aware that the newsletter is now available online - click here to view).
Without these supporters, the work of the Project could not continue. Thank you to all our supporters.
